Photoshop why distort greyed out

Shaun , Thanks again for the all help. Perhaps my older version of PhotoShop is the culprit here? I fool around with Photoshop a bit, but am not very proficient. For some reason, the distort and perspective menu choices are grayed out on the transform menu.

Any idea why this might be or what I can do to resolve it? Thanks very much. Thanks Shaun. Much appreciated. It has an empty 'white' background and the image in a separate layer above the background layer.

When I do this, it's showing a 'checkered' box beside the background, with my image in a separate layer above it. Max Glap 13 years ago. Could you post a screen grab, so we can see what's going on?

It's like those 2 do not exist on my CS3! Looking at your screen shot it looks like you have a bunch of filters missing. Did you try Loopsta's suggestion? Did you activate your copy of CS3? You are definitely missing filters. Might need to reinstall. Stevekin 13 years ago. The Distort option of the Transform function is not available on a Smart Object. Which is why you see it on a normal layer. But if you double click the smart object thumbnail in the layers palette, you can edit normally.

The changes will be present in the smart object. However, as we know, this is not the function you want. Looking at your screen grabs it appears there are a number of other things gone. Even if a filter is not available to use, due to any number of valid reasons, it's usually greyed out and not missing altogether. I suggest you try the panacea for a lot of errors in PS I can see why using a smart filter is good for vignettes because you can go back and change it if need be.

Distort is a way of transforming layers, not creating vignettes. On the right hand side you will see it says Vignette with two sliders underneath it.

One for amount, and one for midpoint. Sliding the amount to the left will create a black vignette. Search titles only. Search Advanced search…. Forums New posts Search forums.
